Many who are out there every day with their cameras already know this, but probably others don’t. That photography, particularly nature photography, is good for the mind, the body and the soul. It connects you with nature, takes you away from whatever may be troubling you and allows you to just take in your surroundings…

Running a GuruShots Challenge
If you’re a new Guru you’re probably wondering how to run a challenge at GuruShots. A good place to start looking is at the FAQ section at GuruShots, the section on being a Guru is a good start. While they give guidelines on Challenge Cover Photos the reality is if you’re bidding for a challenge,…

Picking GPs at a Gurushots Challenge
I’m currently running the Animals with People challenge at https://gurushots.com/challenge/people-and-animals13/details. I was thrilled when my submission was accepted for the challenge. That’s my granddaughter up there with her dog. I really enjoy the privilege of running challenges with GuruShots. I get to see some really great photography – things that I can aspire to….
Do You Enjoy Photography?
If you’re like me, you enjoy photography challenges. Getting the best bird shot, getting the best flower shot, getting the best insect shot. And you like to experiment with different styles. Native garden in Monbulk
I recently had the privilege of photographing a garden in Monbulk. I’d been to visit it a few times in the past and I was amazed at how much it had grown. Just under two years of age, there are many bushes there of a mature size. The owner, Shirley, started the garden after she…
Autumn garden photography
Do you live in or near the Dandenong ranges? Autumn is my favourite season – still some warmth in the day, cooler nights, and with it changing colours in our trees and gardens. Truly a paradise in this area and I love it. I am building a garden (botanic) portfolio and I invite you to…
Photography in Olinda
Recently I had the privilege of photographing a garden in Olinda, Victoria, Australia. As the property is surrounded by tall mountain ash trees sunlight tends to arrive quite late in the morning, even in the warmer months. For more garden images visit my Gardens album at Flickr.
