Wandering around our garden during the week I spied a well developed Scotch Thistle. Must get out and do some serious weeding! On closer inspection though I spied this bee who was enjoying the thistle. Think I’ll leave it there a while longer! 🙂 Welcome to all new subscribers this week and thank you for…

White Faced Grey Heron and young
Readers will know that I am often following the grey heron around at the park. Not that I’m actually stalking it, but if I see it I slow down my walk in an attempt to get closer without disturbing it too much. But many times it sees me before I see it. Last week I…
Betty Cuthbert Rose
This is one of the new rose bushes in our garden and it has a really pretty flower. Smells lovely too. Same bloom 2 days later.
Tiny moth for a tiny flower
Have you seen those tiny little white daisies that spring up in the lawn and garden at this time of year (Spring)? I love the challenge of photographing them. On this particular day I was given extra value with an equally tiny moth upon the flower.
Majestic Gum Trees
I love the beauty of the Australian Gum Tree (Eucalyptus) and thought this tree looked just beautiful. We have several different versions of gum trees, their bark and trunks vary considerably. You’ll see the stringy bark on this one.
With spring comes the bugs
We’ve had a lot of flies turning up lately and suspect eggs have hatched somewhere in or close to the house. Very annoying. Outside there’s been an array of colourful bugs arrive in the garden. The top one below is a Hover Fly but I’m yet to find out what the sparkly green bug is.
Australian King Parrot
This pair were watching to see if I was putting out any more feed recently in our garden. These parrots don’t seem to be afraid, that is they’re used to having humans in close proximity. I know they hang around my neighbour’s deck out the back as he has a pet Corella living there and…
Beautiful roses
That time of year and the roses are budding – and they look beautiful in the spring rains too. The scents are beautiful. I love exploring my garden every day.
The colours of Christmas
I only just realised a couple of weeks ago that the colours of the Bottle Brush are Christmas colours. At least of the red bottle brush, I’ve seen a pink one and another that’s close to purple. Shot this one just after the rain a few days ago.
An Australian scene
I found another road to travel for sunrise shots. These two I feel depict a typical Australian country style scene. The time was before 7.30am and the sun had just risen above the hill in the distance to cast strong shadows.
Crimson Rosellas
These two were enjoying the grevillea in our garden recently. The adults are a vibrant red and blue but the juveniles have this patchwork of green, blue and red.
Australian King Parrots in my garden
I love watching the birdlife in our garden and consider my husband and I to be very blessed indeed. We live in such a beautiful part of Australia. The Australian King Parrot is a large parrot and the male have a completely red head and the female completely green. Both have red tummies and green…
