I learnt something the other week. With my husband currently going through rehab and having to relearn to use his right hand and arm, the physio had mentioned to him that birds are left-handed. And then my daughter mentioned the same thing. A guy she works with is a bird enthusiast and he’d told her…

More at Alfred Nicholas Gardens
The first is of the Boathouse on the lake – probably one of the most photographed buildings in the Dandenong Ranges. The other is of my husband enjoying the scenery. He’d not been to these gardens before. Just 24 hours later he was involved in a serious mtb accident and is now in hospital recuperating….
The essence of Autumn
I love the colours in this shot. Such a display of what Autumn is about – colour and mess! Here at home our own trees are changing colour and look beautiful but on the ground there is such a mess to clean up! This photo was taken at the Alfred Nicholas gardens and not long…
Anzac Day
Today is Anzac Day in Australia – ANZAC being short for Australia New Zealand Army Corps. Probably one of the most important days in Australia’s calendar. You can read more about it here. For the first time Graham and I attended an Anzac Day Memorial Dawn Service. There were tens of thousands of people doing…
The Road to Kallista
Once a week I go visit our eldest daughter and our grandson and the scenery along the way is really beautiful. In one place I kept promising myself that one day I would pull over and take shots from the road. It is such a peaceful feeling driving along here, even when there is some…
Table for two
I was participating in a workshop being held at a winery in the middle of last week. It was a lovely day, blue sky and beautiful surroundings. I couldn’t help taking my camera out to record my visit there. The winery is in Coldstream. Overlooking the vineyard and the lake Looking towards the mountains
One more look at the Dandenong Ranges
There are so many things I can show you there but I’ll do one more post before moving on. As you can appreciate I love the hours I spend just walking the tracks and taking photos. Getting exercise and vitamin D at the same time pursuing my passion.
Cockatoos in the Ranges
Grant’s Picnic Ground is in the Dandenong Ranges and a popular tourist stop to feed the birds. Here the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo is trying hard to grab a bag of seed and another has been checking the ground for fallen seed.
Update here at the blog
I’m busy updating the look of my blog and incorporating my Photography website into the blogsite as well. So please do come and visit – you’ll probably see me go through a few templates till I get the look I want. I know what I want, but it just takes time finding the right mix…
Back at Cloudehill
I had to go revisit Cloudehill to see how it looks in the spring. I plan to go every season and have now learnt they do seasonal tickets. I could have bought one several times over by now – they’d not mentioned it before. This is looking down at the Maple Court.
The Corella and the Cockatoo
Saw these two recently at a park caring for one another. Thought it really cute. In case you don’t know, the Cockatoo has the sulphur crest, the Corella has the blue eyes and pink mask. They are two different breeds.
Spring Festival
One of the things I like about being in the Dandenong Ranges is all the gardens that are open for display at this time of year. My husband and I went to the Tulip Festival on Saturday but it was hard to get decent shots because there were so many people around. I’m planning to…
