Saw these two recently at a park caring for one another. Thought it really cute. In case you don’t know, the Cockatoo has the sulphur crest, the Corella has the blue eyes and pink mask. They are two different breeds.
Kangaroos at Lysterfield
I’ve begun walking each week with a new friend at Lysterfield Lake Park, in the early morning. The roos are plentiful at that hour and because no-one else is around they haven’t gone off to hide. Here we can see a couple of mums with their joeys. Bathtime On the run
Lysterfield Lake and Weir
Of course the Kangaroos and birds aren’t the only thing you see at the park. There is a lake too. It was early morning and the lake was very still when we were there.
Blue (male) Superb Fairy-Wren
And there were quite a few of these around the park too. They move extremely fast so it’s hard to get a good close clear shot of them. This one will have to do.
Eastern Grey at Lysterfield
This Eastern Grey Male Kangaroo was content to just watch as we passed by. When it’s later in the day and more people around, the kangaroos tend to make themselves scarce.
A walk at Lysterfield
I’ve recently taken up walking with a new friend around Lysterfield Lake Park. Not a short walk, but more like over 8kms. It takes us a couple of hours. We still find time to stop for short times so I can take photos. This is the family that eats together.
The nest is finished
Now content her nest is completed the second swan got onto her nest to settle down.
Nest building
There were two black swans at the park. One on her nest adding to it and the other in the water collecting reeds for her nest. Their nests were quite close to each other amongst the reeds at the lake.
Swan building nest
I don’t think you realise just how long their necks are until you see them in a position like this:
Back to Karkarook Park
Do you remember those photos I took of the swan and cygnets back in July? Well, I went back to the park on the weekend in search of them and the Flame robin. Couldn’t find the robin anywhere but I did find the swan – in fact two – which are nesting again. And I…
Spring Festival
One of the things I like about being in the Dandenong Ranges is all the gardens that are open for display at this time of year. My husband and I went to the Tulip Festival on Saturday but it was hard to get decent shots because there were so many people around. I’m planning to…
Pretty Azalea
We have quite a few different Azaleas in our garden too. This one is so pretty.
