Amanita muscaria

Posted on June 3, 2012June 21, 2012

I’d almost given up on seeing any this year in our garden. Previous years it had been much earlier in May for them to be visible. Here it is early June and I found this a few days ago, at the end of May.

And we’ve only seen one this year instead of a dozen like last year or over 70 the year before.

    Kathie,

They look lethal and beautiful at the same token, I suppose they are not edible. O_O

    Great picture.

    Brigitte.

What amazing colour… this must be poisonous! I don’t know that I’ve EVER seen a fungi like that before! Thanks for sharing.

Had no idea what they were, so looked them up. Very interesting. Now I know why they used one of these mushrooms in the drawings of Alice in Wonderland!!
