Swamp Wallaby

Posted on June 7, 2012June 7, 2012

Went for a walk with my brother-in-law at Lysterfield Park yesterday. He had been staying with us after our daughter’s wedding for a few days, along with his wife, my husband’s sister. We saw this gorgeous swamp wallaby just off the track we were walking on. After it had determined that we weren’t going to trouble it, it went on with its breakfast.

They really are quite cute and much shorter in stature to the Eastern Grey Kangaroos that also live at the park.

Nice shots, Kathie. We have swampies on our property in northern NSW, but more often see red-necked wallabies and red-necked pademelons.

Thanks Joy. We don’t have the red-necks here or the pademelons – at least I haven’t seen any. Mainly Eastern Greys and the swamp wallabies. We have seen one bandicoot so there must be others around but I haven’t captured them on my camera yet.
