No matter how many times I wander around our garden I’m always discovering something new. On the weekend I noticed a large cocoon on the side of a tree.
Photo in calendar
Recently I was thrilled to learn I am a winner in a photography competition here in the Dandenong Ranges. The local community bank runs this competition and had 230 entries, 13 of which were winners (1 cover image and 12 for the months) and 9 photographers who took those 13 images. So some had more…
Abracadabra Rose
Here’s another rose from that same bush. Quite striking!
In the likeness of…
I’m participating in a monthly photography challenge and each month we’re given a topic or a theme to take photos and upload for critiquing. Last month we had to do in the likeness of a French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson who did B&W street journalism photography. So here are a couple I did.
Project 52
Through the year I’ve participated in a couple of projects through the Australian Photography Forum at Flickr. One of those was a weekly project of the same subject, to see how it changed through the year. I chose our pergola in our garden. If you would like to see the set of photos then click…
Abracadabra Rose
This rose is unusual. The bush itself throws out different coloured roses, a variation of the dark red like this one through to yellow ones and then variegated in between. Really quite unusual. This was taken after a spring rain shower.
Another kookaburra
Can you tell they’re one of my favourite birds to shoot? I keep hoping for that ultimate perfect Kookaburra photo. This one was at the train station while I was waiting for my husband’s train to come in.
Millipedes and Gum Leaf
I was out for a walk a little while ago and noticed all these millipedes on the one leaf gorging themselves. Not seen that before.
Odd man out
Close up of a Kookaburra
Different angle to what I normally get to take. This is on my property.
Closeup of a bee
I was pleased with this shot – the bees are out in full force now and are easy prey for a camera, providing you’re willing to follow them around and be patient for the right moment.
Someone was busy overnight
A couple of mornings ago, we woke up to fog and signs of a very busy night. Our fence posts were covered in cobwebs, as were many branches of our trees. And this perfect web highlighted by the early morning sun through the fog.
