I’ve had guests from interstate for a few days so I took them on a whirlwind tour of a few of my favourite places here in the Dandenong Ranges. Below are a couple of shots of the lake at Alfred Nicholas Gardens – always beautiful the year round.

Beautiful day in Olinda
Went to Cloudehill today with friends and it was beautiful in spring colours!
Noisy Miners and Heron
This poor heron was being harrassed by noisy minor birds when I visited Lysterfield Lake just recently. Note the minor with its beak open in the first shot – it was really telling the heron off. In the second shot there are two more noisy miners squabbling in the air just above the crouching heron….
Beauty in the forest
More of Sherbrooke Forest – so peaceful to walk around first thing in the morning before many people are aound. The trees are so tall and straight. It makes you feel quite small in a way. If you look carefully there’s a runner to the far left of the second pic – she was around…
Peaceful in the forest
This is my latest favourite pic. Taken yesterday morning at Sherbrooke Forest. The clouds were hanging just above the trees and the trees were dripping. It was cool and damp, quiet and peaceful. No-one around, except for one runner. A swamp wallaby was nearby and a couple of birds, but mainly pretty quiet.
An Australian scene
I found another road to travel for sunrise shots. These two I feel depict a typical Australian country style scene. The time was before 7.30am and the sun had just risen above the hill in the distance to cast strong shadows.
Mirrored lake
Still at Lysterfield Lake Park, on that misty morning. One shot taken of the weir wall and the other of a bench in the water that almost appears to be like glass or a mirror.
White faced heron
While at Lysterfield Park last week this white-faced heron teased me by landing on the fence at the weir wall, waiting till I was several metres away and then taking off again, flying further on and alighting on the fence again. Eventually I managed to get a few shots of it on the fence, this…

One misty morning
More scenes from Lysterfield Lake on that misty morning. A single bright red kayak added interest to the scene as it slowly moved through the glass like lake. I think he (at the back) was teaching her how to paddle as he was making a rhythmic sound although I couldn’t quite make out the word…
Misty morning
I’ve had a short break – busy week! And another market to prepare for which takes place this morning at Belgrave South Baptist from 9am to 1pm if anyone is nearby and would like to drop in. During the week I was back at Lysterfield Lake Park. A short distance from my home, I often…
Kozee Korner
On the old shed at the front of our property the words in this title of this post are carved in wood. We’ve learnt bits and pieces of the history of our home from our elderly neighbour, who has been there for over 40 years and probably seen about 4 or 5 owners of our…
