I’ve noticed a few different birds at the lake of recent times. Birds I’d not noticed before. I don’t know if it’s a seasonal thing or because of the extended dry period we’ve had, or if it’s because I’m noticing things more. At any rate, I was delighted to see these two birds slowly circling Lysterfield Park, gradually moving over the lake and beyond in their ever widening lazy circling, occasionally touching one another and then separating again.
These are Whistling Kites and the ‘M’ shape under their wings gives away their identity. They are raptors. It is at times like these I long for a longer focus lens (mine is a 70-300mm) but then it would be heavier to handle and I’d have to start using a tripod of some sort.
