I am always out and about with my camera. I live in fear of missing ‘that shot’ if I don’t have it outside with me whenever I’m in the garden or elsewhere. In fact, I have missed a few shots for that very reason – leaving my camera inside. Thankfully it doesn’t happen often, leaving my camera behind that is.
Recently I got this shot of a yellow-tailed black cockatoo as it was heading for its roost for the evening, while the sun was setting. I heard the bird calling as it came towards me but was trying to focus my lens as it moved forward. Finally I got a focus as it was directly overhead – resulting in this shot of a bird lit by the setting sun.
I shared it in a local Facebook group and it had an astounding number of likes and comments – more than I’d seen for any other image in that group, or any other group I belong to. I was amazed. I liked the picture but hadn’t realised just how much others would love it. One said it reminded them of a phoenix, others said I should get it printed. Perhaps I will – maybe as a metal art print perhaps? What do you think?
An amazing photo Kathie. You have done really well to capture, not only the bird but also the light of the setting sun so beautifully. Congratulations.
