So now the flora. There was an abundance of plants, bushes, flowers, trees, etc. Such a lovely and stunning place to visit. From bushland that was almost untouched, through to planned and formal gardens, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Butterflies at Cranbourne Botanical Gardens
While exploring these gardens I saw a beautiful butterfly I’d not seen before, so welcome any comments about what the name might be 🙂 I thought it was gorgeous and beautifully marked and coloured, don’t you? And then I saw this Painted Lady which is a fairly common species here in Australia but still lovely…
Visiting Cranbourne Botanical Gardens
There are so many beautiful places to visit on the east side of Melbourne, Australia. On the weekend I went on a photo walk with some fellow bird photographers to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. I’d not been there for a few years and knew it had been undergoing some changes. I plan to share with…
Melbourne Art Trams
Melbourne is currently having an Arts Festival in the city, and eight of our trams have been painted to celebrate the event. Many of Melbourne’s trams are well decorated anyway, so I decided to spend a couple of hours and managed to see four of the eight but saw lots of others that were colourful…
Sydney with smoke clouds
Further to my post yesterday I couldn’t get over the colour of the sky when I came out from the trade show on the second day, while visiting Sydney. While the cause of the colour of the sky wasn’t a good reason, the colour itself was a lovely backdrop to the scenery. So many people…
A different view
I was in Sydney last week, for a trade show, relating to my Virtual Assistant business. It was being held at Darling Harbour, near where our annual conference was held earlier in the year. It’s such a lovely place to visit – visually quite beautiful, and very different to my regular surroundings (which I love). …

The Brolgas are dancing
Well, they aren’t really, but every time I hear the word it reminds me of the Christmas Carol, the Carol of the Birds. I learnt it in primary school and it has stuck with me all through my life. The carol is written by John Wheeler and in the first verse it starts “Out on…
Blue faced honeyeater
It never ceases to amaze me the varieties, colours and styles of birdlife that there is. And here in Australia, we certainly have an abundance of them. I love discovering ‘new’ ones and getting shots of them. My normal approach is to get a shot, even if distant, just so I can say I’ve taken…
Beautiful Serendip Sanctuary
Being introduced to this sanctuary on such a beautiful spring day was just perfect. It showed off the place in the best possible way. It was so serene and beautiful and uniquely Australian. If you’ve never visited Australia, or have only visited our cities, then you are truly missing out on the beauty and splendour…
Cape Barren Goose
I’d not seen any of these close up before, but at Serendip Sanctuary there are quite a few there. They even have a breeding area. During one walk-in area there was a mother with its goslings, very cute. And in a more open area with wetlands there were several there, with one having a heated…
