My husband and I were visiting our daughter and grandson in Monbulk last week and the street carpark was full so we went around to the back of the shops to park. I knew from past visits with our daughter that a pair of Masked Lapwing Plovers lived on the grass at the back of the carpark so when I heard their call, I naturally went looking for them, camera in hand. I was both delighted and surprised to find they had two chicks that were running around – that was an extra bonus. Below are one of the parents and one of the chicks.
