I know that some who have never been to Australia think that kangaroos might roam the streets or be seen everywhere you drive. That’s not the case. However, if you drive to parks in the hills or mountains you will get that opportunity. Where I live there are several parks and mountains nearby and I often get to see kangaroos and wallabies on my walks. They do, indeed, cross the paths I walk and are close enough to touch, although I wouldn’t touch them. I don’t fancy becoming a kicking/punch bag if they took exception.
This is an Eastern Grey Kangaroo. The males can grow very tall. I think this was a female.
