Especially for my American and Canadian friends, two roos that were close to my car as I came back from my walk on Thursday. Sometimes I can get almost close enough to touch them, but I don’t. They’re wild animals, could react in a way that would not be pleasant at all, and I don’t want to scare them or make them feel dependent on humans. But I do love to enjoy watching them.
Are they shy, or do they hang around people? Is it dangerous to be near them?
They are generally shy of people and when there are a lot of people at the park they retreat into the bush. But when there’s not a lot around they just lie around, eat their grass or watch us pass by. Are they dangerous? They can be as they’ve been known to kick people and do some very serious damage. However I’ve seen clips on tv where people have hand fed them and been followed around by them. When the males stand up they’re over 6ft tall and rather imposing.
