Gee, I love my Nikon P950. And if you’re a regular reader here you’ve probably already worked that out.
These images are of an Eastern Spinebill in a banksia on our property in Selby taken a couple of days ago.
Both shots taken from the same position. The smaller image at 850mm and the closer image at 2000mm. I was standing in the same position for both shots. The beauty of this is you can observe your favourite birds from a distance without intruding on their space or disturbing them, providing the perfect ethical birding experience.
This camera has a serious zoom and yes, it takes time and practice to get used to using it but I’ve taken in excess of 60,000 images with this camera in 3.5 years. And I don’t use a tripod – it’s all handheld.
Bird mode remains my favourite mode, although many try to tell me I should use other modes – and I do from time to time. But I keep coming back to Bird mode as most of my top shots with this camera work best in Bird mode.
Wish Nikon did commissions on sales as I’m pretty sure I’ve sold lots of this camera on their behalf over that time 🤣
By the way, are you following me on Instagram? I do have an account called kathiemayt that I post to most of the time these days as images are taken in lots of places, not just the Dandenong Ranges.
I love this photo. I bought the same camera in July this year and it has taken my enjoyment of photography to the next level – especially of birds and wildlife. I am going to enjoy following you and seeing your beautiful images. I do hope I can become as proficient at capturing images as you ◡̈
Thank you Caroline. I’m sure you’ll get as much enjoyment as I do. I’ve had mine 4 years now and still use it every day. Glad you like my images.
