Well, it wasn’t the old gum tree this time round, but rather the top of a folded umbrella so he could watch cafe patrons in case they dropped any food for the taking.

Saw this colourful pair at Lysterfield Park on a recent visit there. They were high up in a tree so I couldn’t get very close but close enough for you to see their colours.

Kathie Thomas has a Diploma in Photography (Professional Photography) and has won many local competitions and awards for her nature photography. She has twice been Commended in Australia Photography’s Nature Photographer of the Year competitions.

While this site is about the Dandenong Ranges and Nature in general, Kathie’s main passion is birds and she is an ethical birder. She takes photos of wild birds without baiting with calls, and avoids using flash photography.
