Magpie-lark

This Magpie-lark was very chatty as it came towards me at Lysterfield Park. Think it might have thought I was good for some food but I wasn’t carrying any.

Although this photo isn’t sharp, I really like it. I was trying to get shots of birds flitting in a wattle tree but they were moving incredibly quickly and I was unable to get any good shots of them sitting on a branch. So, imagine my surprise, when I got home to load the photos…

This beautiful lady is in the Wildlife Sanctuary and Eagle Centre in Ketchikan, Alaska. She is injured and unable to fly and so is available for visitors to see close up. I loved watching her and snapped away – got some more to share tomorrow!

Kathie Thomas has a Diploma in Photography (Professional Photography) and has won many local competitions and awards for her nature photography. She has twice been Commended in Australia Photography’s Nature Photographer of the Year competitions.

While this site is about the Dandenong Ranges and Nature in general, Kathie’s main passion is birds and she is an ethical birder. She takes photos of wild birds without baiting with calls, and avoids using flash photography.
