I went for a walk at Birdsland Reserve in Belgrave Heights recently and discovered a bird I haven’t seen at home, although the park is literally only about 3 or 4 kms away. A fairly small bird and quite cute. The BirdsintheBackyard website is very useful for id-ing birds.

The Cockatoo in the tree
Our house has been bombarded with the nuts from the Liquidamber tree as the cockies throw them down onto the roof. It was easy to think someone was deliberately throwing things on the roof – perhaps they were 🙂
Feeding the Pelicans
When visiting Healesville Sanctuary recently I got to watch the pelicans being fed.
Squabbling Cockatoos
The Sulphur Crested Cockatoos are always fun to watch. They are comical characters and when there is food in the offering, they race to get there first. Sometimes there are squabbles. Taken at one of my favourite places to visit, Grant’s Picnic Ground in Kallista.
Lone Duckling
As we made our way around Healesville Sanctuary the other day we came across the wetlands area. It had duck weed or similar growing right across the top of the water. Looked strange for this lone duckling to be making its way across the top slowly.
