I love living here in the Dandenong Ranges. It’s a little quieter than normal, in relation to traffic on our road, but even so, during normal times, it’s not that noisy. There’s lots of bird life here, wonderful indigenous plant life springing up in our paddock. We do have a lot of weeding to do but at least we don’t have as much planting to do, because of what’s growing naturally.
The sites, the sounds, the smells here are fresh, wonderful, and refreshes one’s soul. I deliberately take time out of my day, almost every single day of the year, just to go for a walk, be it around our 2 acres, or further afield at a park or public garden. There’s always something to see, to explore, to watch. But it’s not just daylight hours, you also get to see beautiful clear skies, that aren’t diluted by city or suburban lights, and get to hear sounds you might not normally hear in suburbs and busy city streets.
The other night it was the eve of the full moon, and I’d noticed the moon during the blue hour – it’s not often I’m outside at that time, but I was this time round. And I don’t do a lot of night photography but would like to explore it sometime. I know of a couple of local photographers who are very good at that. However, I don’t mind having a go at moon shots so here is one that I got two nights ago.
