Many know that I frequent Birdsland Reserve, often. There’s always so much to see and enjoy there and I very much love to just wander along (getting some exercise) and always scanning for something new to shoot (with my camera that is). One day in July, my husband and I were walking together and just next to the pathway, where we were, was a bunch of reeds in the water. I heard a sound like ‘plop’ and turned around to see this darterbird had just popped up, complete with a meal speared on its beak. Poor fish but great catch for the bird and a great catch for me too! I rarely ever go anywhere without my camera and this shows why it’s worth doing that. Was definitely a capture I’d been waiting a long time to get – and to have it so close to me as well, was a real bonus.
