By now you’ll know I have 4 favourite places to walk: Lysterfield Lake Park, Kallista trails, the roads around my home in Selby and my own property. There’s always something to see through the eyes of my camera. As I walked at Lysterfield yesterday I saw lots of butterflies – it’s hard to take a…

Web in the sunlight
Well, I think Summer has finally arrived. It’s not my favourite time of year but I have to admit the beautiful deep blue of the skies and the early morning sunrises provide lots of photo opps. This is a web at Lysterfield Lake Park. It was early morning and windy, the sun was rising and…
Kookaburra take off
Although a bit soft, I managed to capture this kookaburra just as it was leaving a branch to get something on the ground. I had just lined up to take its photo while perched and it decided to take off! Chance shot.
Brown Thornbill
It doesn’t matter how many times I walk around Lysterfield Park, I always see something new – another bird, a different insect, an interesting plant or tree. I believe this bird is a Brown Thornbill and I don’t remember seeing one so close up before.
Young Siberian Husky pup
Over the weekend our youngest daughter visited and she was also babysitting a friend’s young pup, approx 7 weeks old. A gorgeous Siberian Husky. Pity they don’t stay that way forever 🙂 One of our cats didn’t take too kindly to him and was going to have him for supper we thought, but we managed…
Shy Echidna
On one of my regular walks at Lysterfield I heard a rustling in the grass just off the path I was walking and turned to see an Echidna making its way between the trees and bushes. It realised I was there watching it so hid behind a tree but every time it peaked out to…
Lysterfield Lake Park
There’s a bird hide at the park and I periodically take a walk down there to see what I can see. I suspect I need to be there early morning or at dusk because the times I’ve been there (morning and afternoon) have produced very little results, other than lovely scenery and the occasional water…
Congratulations to our calendar winner
Congratulations to our Calendar Winner, Shelley for her comment about the Cockatoos in the Ranges posted late December. Shelley wins a calender of her choice made up of 13 of my images – one for the cover and one for each month. Shelley has been contacted by email and the calendar will be organised and…
Lysterfield and Mountain Biking
If you’re into mountain biking, or know someone who is, then one of my favourite parks to walk around is also an excellent mountain biking park. I can’t walk the narrow trails that are for bikes only but my husband goes off on them while I walk the wider tracks, or those intended for walkers…
The friendly Kookaburra
I went out to water some of my garden the other evening and there were 3 kookaburras in the garden. This one was in the gum tree nearest to where I was watering and just stayed watching me. Maybe he was hoping I might dig up some worms!
Jetty at Lysterfield Lake
As you might have gathered, I often visit Lysterfield Lake Park. There are so many things to see and with the changing weather and seasons, those things change almost daily. Here are two views of the same jetty taken in different light on different days. Which one do you like?
Colourful damselflies
Doesn’t matter how long a lens I have, there’s always another that could take a closer shot! Oh well. With my trusty and fav 70-300mm I took this shot of dragonflies who don’t stay still for very long. I had no idea there was such a variety of colours but here you can see there…
