It was too wet to go out on this particular day but I did manage to get a shot of a rose close to the house.

Rosella takes a bath
Taken in between the rain showers. I’d heard some bird calls I wasn’t familiar with so went outside for a look and found this bird in the bath totally enjoying itself. Taken when the light was really bad so it’s not as sharp as I would have liked it to be.
The colour purple
Flowering gum with a touch of purple in its midst from another bush. Just caught my eye…
A visit to the Melbourne Zoo
Took a trip to the zoo last week and got some quite good pics all round and decided the one of the Mandrill is my pic of the day. However, I couldn’t resist sharing a couple of others with you, and in particular little Mali, the baby elephant.
Filtered leaves
Sun rising in the morning, filtered through the leaves. I didn’t have very interesting shots the day I took this so thought I’d play with one of the photos I took to make it more interesting. I’ve had comments that it looks more like a piece of linen or a teatowel 🙂
Sunlit cubbyhouse
That isn’t a light in the cubbyhouse but the sunlight shining through a side window into the cubbyhouse late in the afternoon.
Grey fantail having a drink
We have a birdbath but until recently hadn’t seen any sign of birds actually using it. So I was delighted when I saw this small grey fantail stopping to have a drink. I had to hide in our pergola behind some creepers to watch without scaring the bird off.
Superb Fairy-wren
Taken at Lysterfield Lake Park, these wrens are in plentiful supply. The blue (male) was elusive today but this one (female) I was pleased to get with its tail displayed.
Jonas the Bengal Cat
My daughter’s cat. Beautiful nature. I was doing some shots of her for a party and the cat was in this lovely pose. Couldn’t resist.
Smokey the Cat
This is one of our cats. Despite the beautiful day I took this photo I didn’t get to go outside and realised in the evening I’d still not taken any photos (a rarity). Smokey was on my desk so he became my subject. He is a very content, happy cat and good company.
Announcing photography competition
I received this email today and have promised I would share the information. I thought you would like to know that there’s a $10,000 holiday to the Grampians up for grabs which includes a full-day photography master-class with Nikon Ambassador Mark Watson! Launched today by Tourism Victoria and Australian Geographic magazine, the promotion highlights the…
Curious Wallaby
This small Swamp Wallaby watched me carefully as I moved to get a better position while at Lysterfield Lake Park recently. Shortly after this shot it took off into the bush.
