Even in a cobweb there is beauty, although I couldn’t quite capture the rainbow colours I saw when I was there. This was taken early morning too. And the jetty I’ve often taken photos of in the past was almost lost in the reflections in the lake that day.

More of Lysterfield Lake Park
You will have heard about the flooding at the park if you’ve been reading any or my blogs or at Facebook. I’m Secretary of the LysterfieldMTB club and so the park has a special interest to me, apart from being able to walk there and take photos. It does concern me that people ignore the…
The majesty of Lysterfield Lake Park
I went out to Lysterfield recently on a beautiful crisp clear morning as the sun was rising and was suitably rewarded with beautiful scenery and a feeling of calmness. Only 10 mins from my home it’s a favourite place to visit for walkers, bird watchers (there is a bird hide there), mountain bikers and family…
Superb Fairy-wren
This is an immature male – love its fluffy breast and blue tail. There are faint blue specks around its beak – later it will have a full head of blue feathers. I enjoy the challenge of bird photography, as you might have guessed 🙂
Eastern Spinebill
Been trying to get one of these guys close up for well over a year now and I finally nailed it. In my neighbour’s grounds there are many plants that the Eastern Spinebill loves and I’m able to move amongst the bushes without making too much noise and without being too disruptive to the bird…
What's up Cocky?
These birds are so comical in their behaviour. I love watching them. This one was busy checking out all the activity on the ground around it.
White lily
I think this is a lily but happy to be corrected. Saw it standing alone on a hillside as my family and I walked around the streets of our small community of Selby. I thought it quite pretty.
Yellow Faced Honeyeater
I went for a walk at Birdsland Reserve in Belgrave Heights recently and discovered a bird I haven’t seen at home, although the park is literally only about 3 or 4 kms away. A fairly small bird and quite cute. The BirdsintheBackyard website is very useful for id-ing birds.
Crane Fly
I often take photos of insects so the uncle of my daughter’s husband passed on a book for me to ID the insects. I’ve often been tagging him at Facebook to help me ID them. But this one I was able to find in the book and learnt that it is called a Crane Fly….
Anniversary cakes
In my ‘other life’ I run a Virtual Assistant business, providing secretarial and admin support to business owner operators. These cakes were a gift for my 17th anniversary in business, made by a friend.
Leaf lit inside
I could see this leaf on the table outside through our loungeroom window so went for closer inspection. It looks like it’s lit up from inside doesn’t it? It was simply how the sun was reaching through it from the other side.
Twins in Pink
These are fuschias from my garden. Taken after a rain shower.
