When I’m walking down our road in the mornings this horse lifts its head to watch me walking by. I love that I can see sights like this near our home.

Dawn at the lake
I was enjoying an early morning walk at Lysterfield Lake recently as the sun rose over the hills beyond the lake.
Wattle Blossom
As winter begins to fade and spring is emerging the wattle blossom is very prevalent all over the countryside, with its bright yellow showing up quite clearly between the greens and greys of the hillsides.
Dew drop
This delicate azalea had many dew drops on it one morning. Looked gorgeous in the morning sun. I particularly liked the one drop getting ready to leave the flower.
1000 steps
There is a place at Ferntree Gully called 1000 steps. It’s in the National Dandenong Ranges Park. Beautiful scenery, hard walk and lots of hill climbing. I love to visit there. Haven’t been to the top of the steps yet but have seen so many other things. These are just a couple of the views…
Coming for a landing
While at 1000 steps you are guaranteed to see and hear lots of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos. They are noisy birds and easily excitable. This one was coming in to land on a branch when I caught the action.
Early morning dew
We’ve had a few foggy mornings here that have looked beautiful as the sun rose. One morning there was really heavy dew outside and I couldn’t resist going out to take some photos as the sun highlighted the areas. This is on our plum tree which is in blossom. The web above was on this…
Red Tulip
A friend from church gave us a pot with red tulips in it a couple of weeks ago after the service. She wanted to bless us. The flowers are still out and one morning, as I sat in my office, I could see the sun shining on the flowers on our verandah. I just had…
Ducks at the Arboretum
Neville Arboretum has a lake that you can walk around. I noticed a white duck for the first time – hadn’t seen it there before. It certainly stood out, both in colour and size, being considerably larger than the other ducks there. I believe this is a domestic duck so do not know how it…
A visit to Neville Arboretum
I visited the Arboretum during the week. Spring is definitely in the air. Cherry blossom is in display everywhere.
Kangaroos on the path
I know that some who have never been to Australia think that kangaroos might roam the streets or be seen everywhere you drive. That’s not the case. However, if you drive to parks in the hills or mountains you will get that opportunity. Where I live there are several parks and mountains nearby and I…
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
I can always be sure that at least one of these birds is going to pose for me whenever I visit Grant’s Picnic Grounds, a popular place for tourists to hand feed birds. This one appears to have a cracked beak.
