Sometimes the most simple things can make beautiful photos, but then again, it’s in the eye of the beholder. While the Scotch Thistle is a weed, I love the colours, particularly when the sun is highlighting it.

Double Delight Rose
I love this rose. My daughter and her girlfriend gave it to me for my birthday a couple of years ago. The bush is a prolific flowerer and truly delights, both visually and aromatically. The first photo was taken 2 days before the next one – it changes so quickly.
Spring activity
The bees are buzzing and aflying, and collecting pollen…. The blackberry is out in flower and the bees are doing their thing. Welcome to all new subscribers from the Grassroots Community Market in Upwey on the weekend. It was good to meet you all and I appreciate you stopping by my stall.
Tiny moth for a tiny flower
Have you seen those tiny little white daisies that spring up in the lawn and garden at this time of year (Spring)? I love the challenge of photographing them. On this particular day I was given extra value with an equally tiny moth upon the flower.
Christmas is just around the corner
Only 5 weeks away…. did you know that? So there’s time still to plan your Christmas gifts. If you are looking for something with an Australian flavour then I have several things available for you to consider. I am increasing the inventory on a regular basis now but the links below will give you a…
Majestic Gum Trees
I love the beauty of the Australian Gum Tree (Eucalyptus) and thought this tree looked just beautiful. We have several different versions of gum trees, their bark and trunks vary considerably. You’ll see the stringy bark on this one.

Parks Victoria has a photography competition at Facebook which helps highlights the parks in Victoria. I have five entries in the competition and would love it if you would vote for at least one of them. I entered early in the competition but because there have been so many entries since then mine have missed…
Anything you can do I can do better…
Spied these seagulls at the lake beach a few days ago and one seemed very intent on telling another about something.
Mother Kangaroo and Joey
Especially for my overseas friends – thought you’d like to see what I saw last night while out for a walk. This Eastern grey female and her young one were busy watching cyclists ride on a path nearby and made a great study for me. But then they got spooked and took off – so…
With spring comes the bugs
We’ve had a lot of flies turning up lately and suspect eggs have hatched somewhere in or close to the house. Very annoying. Outside there’s been an array of colourful bugs arrive in the garden. The top one below is a Hover Fly but I’m yet to find out what the sparkly green bug is.
Profile of a Fairy-wren
Spied this wren while out on a walk recently.
Spring in the hills
Spring is here in Australia and the gardens are bursting in colour. We have quite a few roses in our garden. When we first shifted here we had about 4 and I’ve since planted many others and will continue to do so as I work on our gardens turning portions of it into a cottage…
