At the lake in Lilydale there’s a jetty and viewing pad for the birdlife and boats on the lake. The swallows have taken up residence there and were also enjoying the early morning sun while I visited.

Masked Lapwing Plover in flight
While at Lilydale Lake I disturbed a Plover and it took off. Fortunately I was already focused on the bird so caught it in flight. Can you see its spurs on the top edge of its wings?

Can you see a theme? Yes, I enjoy going to parks and lakes and there are a few in the region in which I live. I was actually chasing a radio station roadshow vehicle to enter a competition and once I caught up with them I thought about where I could visit before returning home….
Lysterfield Lake – beautiful morning
I love being there in the morning, the afternoon, anytime really. When you get views like this one can you blame me? And this is a cormorant taking off as it detects me on one of the jetties.

Even in a cobweb there is beauty, although I couldn’t quite capture the rainbow colours I saw when I was there. This was taken early morning too. And the jetty I’ve often taken photos of in the past was almost lost in the reflections in the lake that day.
