While at the lake on the weekend I spied a single grey heron further up the beach, where the area is still flooded. Not many people walk up there as you can’t get through and have to turn back. I had my rubber boots on so ventured further than I usually do, knowing I could keep my feet dry.
In the first shot the heron was fishing – it was aware of me and kept its distance.
In this shot it was about an hour later. I’d lost my (reading) glasses and had to return in the hope of finding them (at the time of writing this, they still haven’t been found). The heron was standing on a small part of the beach, cut off from the rest of the area, enjoying the morning sun.
