A tale of 4 turtles and two teenage larrikin birds.
At Birdsland Reserve this week.
There were once 4 turtles, two each on two logs, minding their own business, enjoying the morning sunshine. Along came two teenage water fowl, intent on some mischief. They spied the first two turtles and then the other two, and split up, sending a turtle each into the water. The other two remaining turtles were determined to stay their position. One of the larrikins thought they’d be able to get under the shell of one turtle but the turtle was too smart for it. The birds eventually left again.
Note the large insect on the back of one turtle on the left of a couple of pics.
