Went out to feed my chickens and thought I’d wander down to the paddock, just to see if there was anything worth seeing. I had my camera with me – I always do and so glad I did!
I saw movement in a tree branch, only very slight and whatever was there, was quite small. Couldn’t see any colour at that stage. I slowly shifted my position so I wouldn’t spook whatever it was and zoomed in – I was a good 30 or more metres away. I was rewarded. A tiny Sacred Kingfisher was bobbing its head and looking around, not making a single sound. I got a few shots and then it flew to another tree; I had to shift again so I could see it once more and got more shots. So glad I went out when I did! Gorgeous little bird.
Taken with Nikon P950 in Bird mode.
