Thought it was time to update my website and give it a new look for a new year. I hope you like it and find it easy to get around.
On the right side of the screen you’ll see some new items, including my bird collection list – birds I have been able to see and record on the eBird app. I really only started doing this seriously last year (2022), and given there are over 800 species in Australia, I have quite a way to go.
Here, in the Dandenong Ranges, there have been 134 species reported on the eBird app by various people, whereas I’ve personally recorded 43 of those being on my own property in Selby, and 70 at Birdsland Reserve in Belgrave Heights. Some of the same species between these two areas. Plus 36 at Lillydale Lake, 25 at National Rhododendron Gardens and some others in various other spots. A total of 81 species I’ve personally heard and seen here in the Ranges.
I’ll report more on birds through the year, but also on other things I’m doing. I’m thrilled to advise I’m now a volunteer photographer with Puffing Billy Railway. I’ve done a few things with them now and then, but now it’s official and I’ll be helping to record events and other activities as they occur. So thrilled to be a member of their team!
In 2022 I got to photograph their Train of Lights Show (before I became a volunteer with them) and later the Polar Express Show, just after I joined PBR. I’m looking forward to what this year will bring as I work with them.
