When I was visiting Lysterfield Lake just over a week ago, to view the sunset there, I got a surprise in seeing a Royal Spoonbill there on the shore. I had thought I’d seen one in the distance on the other side of the lake a couple of weeks before, but I couldn’t be sure. My zoom lens couldn’t pick up enough detail for me to see for certain. So when I went there the other day and saw the bird just metres away from me, I was in a bit of shock, and delighted, of course.
The Royal Spoonbill also known as the Black-billed Spoonbill, occurs in intertidal flats and shallows of fresh and saltwater wetlands in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. Wikipedia
