These birds are not commonly seen and appear to be very shy. They’re certainly not as plentiful as other birds we see, however I have gotten to know their screech from the odd few times I’ve seen/heard one before. So when I heard it screech in my backyard last week I was quick to race around there, camera in hand, to try and get a photo. But it was mostly obscured by the tree it was in and after half a dozen shots, all looking the same I called out to my daughter to come have a look before it disappeared, as I knew it would. That’s when I did get a much better shot as you can see below.
