Many know that I walk regularly at Birdsland – just love the fresh mornings, the fresh air, the bird calls, the solitude. Later in the day the number of walkers increase, but first thing in the morning there are a few regulars, and occasional others, enjoying the place and the early morning start. I can’t…

Misty morning
I love how fresh everything is on a morning when the sun is rising and there is mist and sunrays. Two of the photographers I walked with.
Sunrise at Birdsland Reserve
I’m trying to make sure I get exercise every day and a good way to do that is to go for a walk at the local reserve that has a lake. It’s just over 5km round walk from the outer carpark. The morning looked promising and I thought I’d get there before the sun reached…
Mist at the Lake
It really was very misty on Monday morning. Here are some more shots of my walk at Birdsland Reserve. I think this one is my favourite shot. A Darterbird holds out its wings in the hope of drying them in the sun. And this duck is bathed in sunlight as the mist swirls.
Before the sunrise
Thought I’d share with you a few shots taken before the spectacular sunrise I posted yesterday, taken at Kallista here in Victoria, Australia. It felt like the whole world was still asleep and I was the only one there to witness it.
As the sun rises
The building on the dam wall provides a great opportunity for watching the sun rise and seeing it bathed in gold once the sun has reached over the tree tops in the background.
Mist upon the lake
Looking back over the lake I could see the mist rising. As the sun got closer to peaking above the tree tops the mist would begin to move and go over the wall.
Lysterfield Lake Photowalk
The next few days I’ll be posting images from the photowalk I did on Tuesday. I was quite happy with what we saw and what I was able to capture and am looking forward to seeing the photos of the others that were there also. When I arrived I made for the dam wall, where…
One misty morning
More scenes from Lysterfield Lake on that misty morning. A single bright red kayak added interest to the scene as it slowly moved through the glass like lake. I think he (at the back) was teaching her how to paddle as he was making a rhythmic sound although I couldn’t quite make out the word…
Lysterfield Lake with mist
When I got to the lake there was mist everywhere but as the sun rose that began to dissipate or burn off. In the first image the sun hadn’t yet hit the area but you can see the mist is fading or lifting. In this second, the sun has reached the trees and we can…
A visit to Lysterfield Lake Park
It was forecast to be very cold with frost and fog on Saturday morning so I knew where I wanted to be, if only I could get out of bed in time. And I did. The next few days’ posts will be about my visit there. Below is the lake with mist over it and…
Early morning mist at Lysterfield
Went on my weekly walk with friend Ros to Lysterfield Lake Park. When we arrrived I could see mist rising from the lake above the trees. Once we got down to the lake, this is what greeted my eyes.
