Unusual visitor to the park

Posted on June 29, 2012June 29, 2012

I managed to get in a short walk at Lysterfield Park yesterday. The weather was nice, albeit quite cool, but there was no rain and I was desperate to get out in some fresh air.  I’m missing my daily walks. Anyway, just after I got out of my car in the carpark and started to put my gear together for my walk I noticed something moving in the bushes nearby.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  A white peacock.  I’d never seen a peacock at the park before, let alone ever having seen a white one. But sure enough, there it was and I took photos to prove it.

Not exactly a beautiful bird except for perhaps its head and crown.  Had it been a male it would have had a long lacy tail behind it.  I’m thinking it might have escaped a hobby farm that is about 1km away from the park. Can’t think where else a peacock would come from.
