We have a magnificent tree in our backyard nestled next to the Lilly Pilly and easily as tall, if not taller. For a long time we hadn’t really realised there was a different tree there. It wasn’t until Graham and I began working in that part of the garden that we noted some differences. This…

More on the tulips
A few more images for you to enjoy! I’ve got several in bloom at home now, although just a small number 🙂
Red Wattlebird in the Grevillea
The Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) gets the name ‘red’ from the fleshy reddish wattle on the side of the neck. It has grey-brown plumage and white and yellow streaks on its stomach. This is a large honeyeater and can be somewhat noisy. It has a very unusual call, there’s no mistaking it. You can find out…
With spring comes the bugs

Tulip Festival
During the week I took off to the annual Tulip Festival held in the Dandenong Ranges at Tesselaar’s property. I’ll be sharing a few images with you over the next few days.
Hover Fly and Daisy

A visit to Neville Arboretum
I visited the Arboretum during the week. Spring is definitely in the air. Cherry blossom is in display everywhere.
Closeup of a bee
I was pleased with this shot – the bees are out in full force now and are easy prey for a camera, providing you’re willing to follow them around and be patient for the right moment.
Teamwork
I love walking around the garden to see what I can spy. Sometimes I have to race back inside to get my Macro lens – not everything can be caught on my long lens. These two were working on opposite sides of the same flower – a lavender.
Another small spider
And I think this one was ready to attack my camera lens. He was living on another white daisy and raised his legs at me.
