A regular visitor to our garden it particularly loves the nectar from the Grevillea flower. I was fortunate not to be noticed in the shadow of a nearby tree, sufficiently, to get reasonable shots of this normally flighty bird.

Crescent Honeyeater
Recently I’ve discovered some ‘new’ birds in my garden at home. I don’t know if they’ve always been visiting or whether it’s a new occurence. I am a lot more aware of different birds here and was delighted to see these ‘newcomers’, the Crescent Honeyeater. They are a native to eastern Australia. Quite a cute…
Red Wattlebird in the Grevillea
The Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) gets the name ‘red’ from the fleshy reddish wattle on the side of the neck. It has grey-brown plumage and white and yellow streaks on its stomach. Grevilleas
We have a few different grevilleas coming out now and that means all the honey-eaters, large and small, are starting to hang around more. These are just a couple of them.
Eastern Spinebill and Grevillea

Proteas in flower
We have a small number of proteas in our garden. I had thought these are Australian natives but it seems their origin is from South Africa. Proteas are a common sight here in Australia in many places. I’m afraid I don’t know the names of these but thought you might like to see them. Like…
Dew in the morning
Same beautiful morning as the past few photos. I noticed dew dripping from flowers and leaves.
Wattlebird bathed in sunlight
This bird loves the grevillea and visits every day.
Cheeky wattlebird
Not sure if he was telling me off, or my cat who was circling my legs as I took this photo. But he certainly was very vocal.
