Superb Lyrebird

Posted on October 30, 2012

Went to the Rhododendron Gardens on Tuesday with a friend and a group of photographers from the club I belong to. We split up and went in different directions. My friend and I headed down towards the lake and then found the Lyrebird Walk. We had heard one calling so was hoping we would see it, and we did. It was being a bit elusive in the shadows so it was hard to get a shot that had good lighting but this will give you an idea of what we saw as it foraged along the ground.

In case you haven’t heard, Lyrebirds are wonderful mimics and can imitate any sound it hears.
