Silver eye visitors

Posted on April 3, 2013March 31, 2013

The Silver-eye are very tiny birds with a constant two-part ‘cheep’ sound. They love our fig tree and are all over it currently. You can see from the size of the figs below that these are quite tiny birds. Their colouring makes it easy for them to hide in the foliage of this tree and others. But if you stand still and watch, you can eventually discern them amongst the movement of the leaves.  Apparently, even though one of Australia’s tiniest birds, they can travel great distances when migrating.
