Since taking up photography much more seriously over the past 4 years, I’ve found that bird photography is the most challenging… and the most satisfying. Getting close enough for that one-of-a-kind shot or hoping you’ll see that bird again to do better next time. I find my bush walks so much more interesting these days…

Do you receive my posts by email?
I’ve been updating the site, as you might be aware, and changing some of my systems. I’ve been going through a real learning curve with the new theme (courtesy of StudioPress Themes) and using the mail service at MailChimp so that I have all my blog and newsletter services in the one place, rather than…
New look to the site
I’m currently updating the look of this site with a new theme – one that is proving to be a bit challenging at the moment, but I’ve got it more than halfway there, so determined to persevere. I hope you like the new look, once it’s finished.
Steve Parish workshop in Northern Territory
If you’re in the Northern Territory, or can get there, you’re in for a treat! Steve Parish will be presenting there in July, with a one day workshop, a 5 day photography adventure at Kakadu National Park and a free evening hearing him talk about his 50 years of photography. I’m sure you’ve heard of…
Updates at Flickr
Flickr.com has updated its system and is now offering Pro members unlimited space for uploading their full resolution images. Love that they’re giving us extra space – I’ll certainly use it as I have over 8,000 images uploaded there now. However, I doubt, very much, that I will upload full resolution images there as they’re…
Most popular photos for 2012
I thought I’d share with you some of my most viewed photos at Flickr.com where I host a lot of images. I’m taking a break for a couple of weeks and might upload some images during that time. While I will be out and about with my camera I’m not planning on spending a lot…
A photo a day, 365(+1) days a year
Some of my readers will know I’ve been participating in Project 365 – a photo a day for the past 2 years. Of course, it’s Project 366 this year. I started doing it with a group of photographers at the Australian Photography Forum and, at the time, didn’t realise how popular this project is amongst…
Networking and building
Today’s post is somewhat different. I wanted to tell you a bit about what I’ve been up to lately with my photography. So many things have been catching my interest and my passion. I am happy to tell you I am now walking again – without a crutch in hand. I still take it with…

If you’re a nature photographer, or you know someone who likes to take photos of nature, and you write a blog, please tell them about our Nature Photoblog Carnival. Entries are nearly closing – and we’ll be posting the submissions here Monday week. To submit an entry simply go to http://blogcarnival.com/bc/submit_15019.html and fill out the…
Nature Photography Blog carnival
Have you heard of a Blog Carnival? I used to participate in one several years ago when I first began blogging. I’d forgotten about that till recently when researching plugins and then saw one that related to receiving submissions for a blog carnival. Unfortunately that plugin is being discontinued but it gave me an idea….
A Photography walk goes wrong
This story is also posted on our family blog but thought many more would see it here. It was a dull grey Monday morning 12th December but I still chose to go out for a walk. I usually do to get my regular exercise and hope to see new things for my camera to focus…
Kallista Market in the morning
Tomorrow I’ll be at the Kallista Market for the first of three markets this month before Christmas. New product stock is in and will be on display for sale tomorrow. I’ve also got a new green marquee in keeping with the surrounding area – I thought green would be a good colour to have. So,…
