There was an interesting array of bridges across the various lakes at the Blue Lotus Water Garden. This one led across the longest stretch of water. Red is a colour they use a lot and I found the blue posts an interesting choice combination. And a place to sit and just enjoy the environment.

The Lotus and Water Lily
I went on a recent photo walk with a group of photographers to the Blue Lotus Water Garden, near Yarra Junction in Victoria, Australia. They are only open 3 months of the year, from Boxing Day to the first week of April. My husband and I first discovered this garden in January after seeing an…
Raindrops on Roses…
We’re going through a bit of a drought here, hopefully only temporary. We’ve had less than half of the amount of rain we’ve normally had for this time of year, even here in the Dandeonong Ranges which usually attracts the rain clouds. Consequently any bit of rain is appreciated and we had a mere .5mm…
Purple (wild) flower at the park
I have no idea what this flower is, it is daisy-like. It was growing as a wild flower in the local park. Thought it really beautiful. Do you agree? If you know what it is, please do let me know too.
Winter flowers
With winter upon us, the garden was looking drab there for a bit. We had to clear up a lot of dead and wet leaves on the pathways and driveway, but now they’ve been cleared up, the garden is looking more defined, and as we’ve really begun looking at the garden again, we can see…
Last of the Autumn colours
Winter has set in here in Victoria, Australia, and we’re experiencing cold days and nights, and rain, with a bit of sunshine here and there. Our first week of June had the equivalent of the average month of June’s rain. So will be interesting to see what pans out for the rest of the month. …
Anzac Day
I was hoping to have photos of the Dawn Service but when my husband and I arrived, there was no way we could get anywhere near the front and we had to content ourselves with hearing what was being said and seeing the backs of heads, many rows ahead of us. So different to two…
Lorikeets in the Fig Tree
Our figs suddenly ripened a week ago. We were thinking they weren’t going to this year round. We’d had a long hot dry summer and we hadn’t watered the tree, or most of our garden, wanting to preserve our water as we live on tank water. We got some rain, wind and sun in the…
Autumn in the Ranges
Autumn is here once again. My favourite time of year. Warmish days, cooler nights, beautiful imagery. The flowers, the changing tree colours, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, lovely scenery all round. It really is a picturesque place to live and I love it here in the Dandenong Ranges. We have autumn flowers coming out now and…
Spring flowers
Still playing with my macro lens, I’m enjoying some close ups of our spring flowers in the garden.
Pretty Anemones
A member of the Ranunculaceae family, these flowers are simple, single petaled, pretty flowers in a variety of colours and variations. A sign that Spring is just around the corner here in Australia.
Hardenbergia – The Happy Wanderer
A friend of mine posted a photo of this on Facebook and I asked him questions about the plant. Thought it so pretty. So I went in search of it to buy. Apparently you can get it in white as well, and I’ve since seen it in places near home, growing along fences. You can…
