The cheeky Currawong

These birds are almost the size of our crows, or ravens.  A very dark grey, almost black with the distinctive white strip on their wings.  They have an unusual call that travels long distances.  The lilly pilly tree is heavily laden with berries and they love them. But I am sure they keep flying over our house and dropping berries (or perhaps twigs) on our roof. I have had them throw things at me when I’ve been outside on occasion.

  1. Promotional Products says:

You captured the photo perfectly. I think Cheeky Currawong is with the same family as crows and ravens if I’m not mistaken. But I still love the Osprey because of the way they hunt for food.

  2. (nope, while they resemble ravens, they are streperas and not corvids, a family which only contains other currawongs – while closeley related, their behavioral and nesting tendencies are different)

  3. Thanks Clara for your information. They certainly have a very different and quite haunting call.

Your site is lovely – thanks for visiting.
