This one is a bit closer – I moved a couple of steps, took a shot, moved a couple more steps, took another shot, till I got close as I dared using a regular lens. Thankfully he didn’t fly off – think he’s getting used to seeing me in the garden with a camera hanging off my neck.
Taken in my backyard early morning – I took some distance shots and then gradually moved closer to get better shots of him – all with my 18-55 mm lens as I don’t have the zoom at the moment. He seemed happy to just sit and watch for worms and then occasionally check on me as well.
A photo of a blue banded bee I took led me to a path of discovery. I began researching to find out what kind of bee it was. I've actually learnt lots of things since that day and can now name almost every bird in this region and identify it by its call too.
