Autumn garden photography

Do you live in or near the Dandenong ranges? Autumn is my favourite season – still some warmth in the day, cooler nights, and with it changing colours in our trees and gardens. Truly a paradise in this area and I love it.

I am building a garden (botanic) portfolio and I invite you to have your garden photographed if you live in or near this beautiful region. For a limited time I have a special price offering to photograph your garden and give you a 20page photo book of your garden at the special price of $325.00.  What does this entail? Usually 2 visits – the first so I can meet you and get to know your garden, the second to do the photography of your garden at a mutually convenient time.

It can be a portion of your garden or an overview of the whole garden. Or perhaps you know someone you’d like to gift this to?  Make contact with me today via the contact page on this site. I look forward to hearing from you!

Visiting Mawarra: An Edna Walling Garden

As you may have gathered in past posts, I am a keen gardener and for me, the mix of nature and gardens is just perfect. Last year I learnt about Edna Walling, who was a well known garden designer here in Australia during the 1920s-1940s but she was also a photographer and an author, writing for magazines and also writing books. I felt I’d found I kindred spirit and now have 3 books by or about Edna and have been happily finding out all I can. So, to have been invited to visit one of her most well-known gardens was an absolute joy and privilege and I wandered around the garden with my camera, in absolute heaven. Hope you enjoy these images and you can find more here.  Mawarra is in Sherbrooke, Victoria and you can choose to stay at the guest house and enjoy this beautiful garden.

While at this garden walk I met with Chris who provides wonderful art deco style outdoor furniture. If you’re wanting to decorate your garden you might also like to visit his site to explore.

National Rhododendron Gardens

I went with a group of photographers last weekend to the Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda, Vic.  It was a wet day but it was beautiful there and we enjoyed the sights we saw.  Here are some of them.

We were in a cloud on the mountain and the mist just sat on us.

Mist at the Lake

It really was very misty on Monday morning. Here are some more shots of my walk at Birdsland Reserve.

I think this one is my favourite shot.

Crisp and Misty Morning

Went for a walk at Birdsland Reserve on Monday. It was 1.2C outside according to the Bureau of Meteorology site and I believed it! A bright but very cold Autumn morning. Rugged up with a woollen coat, gloves and hat pulled down over my ears. And as a reminder to how cold it was, my breath escaped visibly from me as I walked briskly along the path.

I had both my cameras with me, the long lens for close ups or longer distance and the short lens for wide angle shots.  Glad I had both with me.  Below are some of the views I saw on that morning as the sun rose.
