Our first Autumn here in our home in Selby back in 2010 was a wonderful surprise. We just had no idea what it would be like. Our front fence is a mustard yellow and it blends beautifully with the Autumn colours. I was told, early in our time here, by a neighbour, that our home…

Autumn in the Hills
Recently I visited the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens. We really are spoiled for choice here with so much to visit and see. As the weather gets colder and wetter it’s often just tempting to stay inside our nice warm homes. But it really is worth the effort to get out and about, especially if it’s…
Visiting Cloudehill Gardens
My husband and I recently had a lovely drive through the hills and visited Cloudehill Gardens in Olinda, which is looking absolutely amazing right now due to the Autumn colours there. So many photos, I won’t share them all (over 150 of them) but it was hard choosing which ones to share here. If you’ve…
Stunning Autumn in the Dandenong Ranges
We really are having the most amazing Autumn up here in the Dandenong Ranges this year. My husband and I went up there on Mother’s Day and spent a couple of hours at the George Tindale Gardens. Had intended to visit another garden but we found pathways we’d not walked before and just totally immersed…
Autumn garden photography
Do you live in or near the Dandenong ranges? Autumn is my favourite season – still some warmth in the day, cooler nights, and with it changing colours in our trees and gardens. Truly a paradise in this area and I love it. I am building a garden (botanic) portfolio and I invite you to…
Visiting Mawarra: An Edna Walling Garden
As you may have gathered in past posts, I am a keen gardener and for me, the mix of nature and gardens is just perfect. Last year I learnt about Edna Walling, who was a well known garden designer here in Australia during the 1920s-1940s but she was also a photographer and an author, writing…
National Rhododendron Gardens
I went with a group of photographers last weekend to the Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda, Vic. It was a wet day but it was beautiful there and we enjoyed the sights we saw. Here are some of them. A couple of the photographers I was visiting with enjoying one of the paths and scenery We…
Mist at the Lake
It really was very misty on Monday morning. Here are some more shots of my walk at Birdsland Reserve. I think this one is my favourite shot. A Darterbird holds out its wings in the hope of drying them in the sun. And this duck is bathed in sunlight as the mist swirls.
Crisp and Misty Morning
Went for a walk at Birdsland Reserve on Monday. It was 1.2C outside according to the Bureau of Meteorology site and I believed it! A bright but very cold Autumn morning. Rugged up with a woollen coat, gloves and hat pulled down over my ears. And as a reminder to how cold it was, my…
Lorikeets in the Fig Tree
Our figs suddenly ripened a week ago. We were thinking they weren’t going to this year round. We’d had a long hot dry summer and we hadn’t watered the tree, or most of our garden, wanting to preserve our water as we live on tank water. We got some rain, wind and sun in the…
Autumn in the Ranges
Autumn is here once again. My favourite time of year. Warmish days, cooler nights, beautiful imagery. The flowers, the changing tree colours, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, lovely scenery all round. It really is a picturesque place to live and I love it here in the Dandenong Ranges. We have autumn flowers coming out now and…
Dying signs of Autumn
Although it is winter now we still have some Autumn colours around but not a lot. The last tree to lose its leaves is on view through this bird feeder.
