A touch of Autumn

It’s now officially Autumn here, although I’ve seen signs of it coming in some of the plant life since February.  Here, in our own garden, one of our Liquidamber trees and the Weeping Oak have begun to show their colours through their leaves. I know it’s only a few weeks before our whole garden puts on a splendid display of autumn colour.  I love this time of year.

I thought this one really strange – like a bit had been tacked onto the end of the leaf.

Autumn amongst the green

Saw this Liquidamber leaf on the lawn the other day. It certainly showed up amongst the green on the ground. I love this time of year – fresh with rain, colourful with the Autumn leaves, still warm in the days, cooler at night.

A study of Bella Donna Lilies

Or otherwise known as ‘The Naked Lady’. I assume because of it’s lack of leaves (dressing) when in flower. The leaves are present at other times.

These are popping up all over our garden at the moment and are very pretty. They look so delicate too.

Signs of Autumn

I’m loving seeing the signs of Autumn on its way. Our Liquidamber trees have leaves with changing colours and I’ve noticed many other different trees in our area with leaves turning mainly yellow, but some with orange as well.

Of course, if you weren’t looking for it, you wouldn’t notice as most of the leaves are still green, but there is a hint of it here and there…

Gladiolis in flower

I missed seeing some of the bulbs I’d planted some months ago come out in flower, as I was pretty much stuck inside unless I had assistance from my husband or another person.  So I was really glad to find, once I could venture outside, that some of my gladiolis were still flowering.

I particularly liked the blend of purple and green in these shots – it’s been planted beside the Hebe Veronica which is also out in flower.

Spring activity

The bees are buzzing and aflying, and collecting pollen…. The blackberry is out in flower and the bees are doing their thing.
