Back at one of my favourite places to walk, Lysterfield Lake Park is brimming with butterflies and dragonflies at this time of the year. This is one of the butterflies I saw when walking last weekend. It had beautiful markings under its wings whereas most seem to be rather pale in comparison
I have a friend who knows lots about bugs and things – I’m hoping he might come to my rescue and identify my butterflies 
By now you’ll know I have 4 favourite places to walk: Lysterfield Lake Park, Kallista trails, the roads around my home in Selby and my own property. There’s always something to see through the eyes of my camera.
As I walked at Lysterfield yesterday I saw lots of butterflies – it’s hard to take a shot as they rarely stay still long enough. This one was on the wire of a fence.
Saw this in my neighbour’s yard a few days ago. The first I’ve seen for this season and will surely see many more soon.
We visited the Butterfly Conservatorium in Niagara, Canada last June so these last few pics were taken there.
A photo of a blue banded bee I took led me to a path of discovery. I began researching to find out what kind of bee it was. I've actually learnt lots of things since that day and can now name almost every bird in this region and identify it by its call too.
