Blackbird, blackbird, sing me a song

A few days ago I was watching a blackbird in our backyard, from our bedroom window. He was aware of me but still hung around foraging in the garden before taking off. Our Lily Pily tree has been dropping berries all over the ground. Apparently you can make jelly out of the berries but I haven’t tried that yet. Perhaps when I’m retired and got more time on my hands 🙂

The Common Blackbird is an introduced species in our country. It is an untidy eater, spreading stuff everywhere as it searches for food. We always know when the blackbirds have been around because any new leaf litter, or mulch gets tossed around and paths made messy. But they do have a beautiful song and are lovely to listen to.
